Felony in Office

What I am about to ask is creating controversy all over… yes I’m willing to take this risk of creating that here…

QUESTION:

Are you ok with having a president who has been convicted of a felony?

Before you criticize me for being on the side of one candidate or the other. This is not about that. This is about the single issue of having a President who has been convicted of a felony.

A felony conviction can have many long-term consequences that impact a persons life, including:

Employment: It can be difficult to find a job with a felony on a persons record. Employers can ask about your criminal history and use that information to make hiring decisions. A felony conviction may also prevent a person from working in a specific field or getting a professional license.

Housing: It can be difficult to find housing.

Education: A felony conviction can impact a person’s ability to pursue higher education.

Civil rights: A felony conviction can revoke some of a persons basic civil rights, such as the right to vote, serve on a jury, or own a firearm.

Meaning life with a felony becomes more difficult, Why? Because this is what we call repercussions.

Regardless of what you did, you are a felon for life.

No matter what.

However, for the job of being President. The highest office in this country. Having a felony doesn’t automatically disqualify you from holding office.  In comparison, applying for a job as a janitor with a felony can disqualify a person.

Here’s the thing, if we are going to be ok with someone with a felony charge being President. Then, remove all of the repercussions for having a felony from all aspects of life for everyone.

If we are not ok with having a President with a felony, then leave the repercussions as they are.

We can’t have it both ways.

What do you think?

Please be kind.  This is not a debate about one candidate or the other… this is about having a  Felony charge and obtaining the job of being  President.

Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts.
